Services

What services does Green Stripe offer?
Green Stripe offers six core services: year-round lawn care programmes (Standard, Premier, Ultimate), complete lawn renovations, lawn grub control, red thread disease treatment, water conserver application, and hard-surface moss & weed control for patios and driveways.
What is a lawn care programme?
A lawn care programme is a scheduled, year-round maintenance plan built around 5 core seasonal visits with 6 targeted treatments. It maps feeds, weed control and moss management to the natural growing cycle — early spring, late spring, summer, autumn and winter — for consistent soil health and dense, resilient grass.
What is a lawn renovation?
A lawn renovation is a comprehensive process for restoring severely degraded turf without relaying it. It involves pre-treatment of weeds and moss, multi-pass scarification to remove thatch and create a seed bed, double aeration to relieve compaction, overseeding with premium seed, pre-seed fertiliser, water conserver and top-dressing, finished with a germination check.
What is scarification?
Scarification is the mechanical removal of thatch and moss from a lawn using a powered scarifier. Removing this build-up lets air, water and nutrients reach the soil and creates a seed bed for overseeding. Green Stripe includes annual scarification in its Ultimate programme and as a core step in every full renovation.
What is lawn grub control?
Lawn grub control is the targeted application of a licensed, pest-specific insecticide to eradicate turf-destroying grubs such as leatherjackets (crane fly larvae) and chafer grubs. It is safe for children and pets, and prevents costly secondary damage from birds, badgers and foxes digging up the lawn to feed on the grubs.
What is red thread disease and how is it treated?
Red thread (Laetisaria fuciformis) is a common fungal turf disease showing pinkish, thread-like growth and bleached patches, usually in damp conditions on under-fed lawns. Green Stripe generally treats it by improving moisture management, airflow and nutrition rather than applying fungicides, alongside a balanced feeding programme.
What does a water conserver do?
A water conserver is a granular wetting agent that improves how a lawn holds water. It reduces surface tension so water infiltrates the soil, relieves dry patches in the thatch layer, and retains moisture in the soil profile. One application lasts around 3 months and is especially valuable on sandy coastal soils.
Do you treat patios and driveways?
Yes. Green Stripe offers hard-surface treatment in two forms: a moss and biocide application that breaks down slippery moss, algae and lichen on patios, drives and paths, and a weed-control spray for driveways, patio cracks, gravel and other hard standing. It's an ideal add-on during a lawn visit.

Programmes, pricing & payment

How much does lawn care cost with Green Stripe?
Programmes start from £18 per month for Standard, £25 for Premier and £35 for Ultimate. Direct-debit discounts apply: 2% on Standard, 5% on Premier and 10% on Ultimate. Exact pricing depends on lawn size and condition, confirmed at a free consultation.
What's the difference between the Standard, Premier and Ultimate programmes?
All three include 5 seasonal visits with 6 treatments — feeds, moss and weed control, and water conserver. Premier adds annual solid-tine aeration to relieve compaction. Ultimate adds annual scarification on top of everything in Premier, for the most complete year-round care.
Which lawn care programme is most popular?
The Premier programme is Green Stripe's most popular option. It covers all the essential seasonal feeds, weed and moss control and water conserver of the Standard plan, then adds annual solid-tine aeration to relieve compaction and improve root health.
Can I pay monthly?
Yes. All programmes are available on monthly direct debit, which also unlocks discounts of 2% (Standard), 5% (Premier) and 10% (Ultimate). Pay-as-you-go is also available for one-off treatments and renovations.
How do I get started with Green Stripe?
Fill in the contact form on greenstripelawns.co.uk, call 01288 371343, or send a WhatsApp message to 07740 083692. Chris will arrange a free, no-obligation consultation, assess your lawn, and design a tailored treatment plan.
What's included in a free consultation?
Chris visits your property, assesses the lawn's current condition, identifies underlying issues such as thatch, moss, soil compaction or lawn pests, and recommends a tailored treatment plan. There's no obligation — it's an honest assessment from someone with 23 years in professional turf management.

Areas covered

Where does Green Stripe Lawn Care operate?
Green Stripe is based in Bude and covers North Cornwall and North Devon — roughly a 40-mile radius. This includes Bude, Wadebridge, Padstow, Rock, Polzeath, Tintagel, Port Isaac, Camelford, Bodmin, Stratton, Kilkhampton, Boscastle, Launceston, Holsworthy and Morwenstow.
Do you cover North Devon as well as Cornwall?
Yes. As well as North Cornwall, Green Stripe covers North Devon, with Holsworthy as its main Devon base. Inland Devon soils and exposed rural plots are treated differently to the coastal lawns over the Cornwall border, so every programme is tailored to local soil and conditions.
Do you work with holiday lets and second homes?
Yes. In coastal areas like Rock, Polzeath and Padstow, Green Stripe regularly maintains lawns at holiday lets and second homes, including quick-turnaround work between bookings and year-round programmes that keep grounds presentable when owners are away.

Logistics, safety & timing

How far do you travel?
We cover North Cornwall and North Devon. This includes Padstow, Wadebridge, Rock, Polzeath, Tintagel, Port Isaac, Camelford, Launceston, Bodmin, Holsworthy and Morwenstow. If you're on the edge of our coverage, get in touch — we may still be able to help.
What's included in a free consultation?
During your free consultation, Chris will visit your property, assess your lawn's current condition, identify any underlying issues (thatch, moss, soil compaction, lawn pests), and recommend a tailored treatment plan. There's absolutely no obligation — it's just an honest assessment from someone who's spent 23 years in professional turf management.
How long before I see results?
It depends on the treatment. Moss control and feed treatments typically show visible improvement within 2-3 weeks. Scarification results are usually visible within 4-6 weeks. A full renovation will show dramatic improvement within one growing season (3-6 months). We'll give you realistic timelines during your consultation.
Do you work year-round?
Yes. Lawn care is a seasonal discipline — different treatments are optimal at different times of year. Our year-round programmes are scheduled around the natural growing cycle: spring feeds, summer maintenance, autumn scarification, and winter preparation. We plan proactively, not reactively.
Are your treatments safe for children and pets?
We use professional-grade products that are safe for domestic use when applied correctly. After liquid treatments, we recommend keeping children and pets off the lawn until it's dry — typically around 3 hours. We'll always advise you on specific aftercare requirements for each treatment.
What's the difference between your lawn care programme tiers?
All three programmes are built around 5 core seasonal visits with 6 treatments. Standard covers feeds, moss & weed control, and water conserver across the year. Premier adds annual solid tine aeration to relieve compaction. Ultimate includes everything in Premier plus annual scarification — the complete package. Direct debit discounts: 2% on Standard, 5% on Premier, and 10% on Ultimate.
Do I need to prepare my lawn before you arrive?
Ideally, give your lawn a mow within a couple of days before a scarification or renovation appointment — up to the day before is fine. For most other treatments, no preparation is needed. We'll let you know in advance if there's anything specific required for your scheduled service.
Can you fix a lawn that's mostly moss?
Absolutely. Moss-heavy lawns are one of our most common briefs, especially in the damp coastal climate of North Cornwall. We identify the root cause (usually poor drainage, shade, or low pH), treat the moss with targeted applications, scarify to remove dead material, and then overseed to restore grass coverage. Most clients see significant moss reduction within one season.
Do you treat hard surfaces too?
Yes! We offer two types of hard surface treatment: a moss and biocide application for patios, drives, and paths, and a weed control spray for driveways, patio cracks, gravel, and other hard standing. Ideal as an add-on when we're already visiting your property.
