The Details
What's Involved
What is Red Thread Disease? Red thread (Laetisaria fuciformis) is a common fungal turf disease that causes irregular patches of bleached or pinkish grass with distinct red, thread-like mycelium growing from the leaf blades. It typically thrives in humid, damp conditions on lawns suffering from low nitrogen fertility and excessive thatch buildup.
Our carefully selected lawn treatment programme usually prevents lawns suffering from excess disease by naturally keeping the grass healthy and correctly fed without excess nitrogen.
Sometimes, due to environmental conditions such as excess rainfall, lawns can suffer from Red Thread disease. These pink/red strands of mycelium can be seen on your lawn in the early morning dew. Whilst this issue doesn't kill the lawn, it causes the tips of the grass to brown off in unsightly patches.
As such, we can offer a quick treatment to help reduce the symptoms and improve your lawn's appearance. We don't generally apply fungicides to your lawn — instead we look at other ways of reducing the conditions for the disease, such as moisture management and increasing light and airflow to the lawn.
